Watford vs Cardiff: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 15th December 2018
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Vicarage Road

Match Preview:

Watford stopped a 3 game losing run to go to Goodison Park and get an impressive 2-2 draw, although The Hornets will feel like the match was a defeat after they were winning the game 2-1 deep into injury time.

They come into this game in 12th place on 21 points and form has been poor given that they have not won a game in the Premier League since the end of October. It sure has been a few tough weeks for the club.

They return home where they have 4 wins and 4 losses and this includes losing their last two games here. Although perhaps they can be forgiven as those matches were against Liverpool and Manchester City, and in both cases they didn’t get embarrassed.

Cardiff are in 14th place with 14 points and even though they are not in the bottom three they will realise that if they continue this form, 38 points after 38 games there is a big chance they will go down, wins are needed. And to be fair Cardiff have some recent wins over the likes of Southampton and Wolves, the problem is consistency, they win one week and lose the next. On the road they have amongst the worst record in the league with no wins so far. Only Fulham have a worse record and that is only because of goal difference, Cardiff have won just 1 point on the road all season and have scored just 3 goals.

Team News:

Watford: Etienne Capoue continues his 3 match ban for a red card and misses this game. Apart from this there are no new major injuries for the club.

Cardiff: Greg Cunningham will be assessed ahead of this game after his minor knock. Ashley Richards could feature after a lack of match fitness.

Watford vs Cardiff Head to Head:

The teams have not played here since 2014 where Cardiff won 1-0.

Watford have won just 1 meeting from the past 8.

Watford vs Cardiff Prediction:

The 2-2 result against Everton means little and Watford will need to pick themselves up after thinking they had won. Cardiff have an awful away record but we think they can get something here. Neil Warnock has been working overtime on the teams defence, and they might be coming here to get a point and that is why we will back Cardiff on the double chance for this game. The longer the game goes on at 0-0, the more difficult it will be for the home side but we will back 3 points for the home side.
