Crystal Palace vs Newcastle: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Wednesday 24th April 2024
Kick off at 8pm BST
Venue: Selhurst Park

Match Preview:

Crystal Palace are in great spirits coming into this game with back to back wins against Liverpool and West Ham. Their win over Liverpool could well cost the Reds the league title and the win over West Ham has probably cost David Moyes his job. Palace, the club that keeps giving. The victory against Liverpool has to go down as Palace’s greatest moment of their season winning 1-0 at Anfield against a side who had been unbeaten at home this season. At the weekend they followed this up by crushing West Ham 5-2 at home, and the team are going to be confident coming into this game. With 36 points the team will be resigned to the fact of no European hope this season and a bottom half finish but they have improved under manager Oliver Glasner and perhaps there will be high hopes for the club coming into this summer and next season.

Newcastle are in sixth place and won’t be climbing any higher given that with 50 points they are 10 points behind fifth placed Tottenham. Manchester United and Chelsea remain threats for Newcastle’s participation in Europe next season but Eddie Howe’s side who have suffered many injuries this season have been able to go their last 4 games unbeaten. The club have found form and demolished Tottenham 4-0 last weekend and have recent wins over Fulham and West Ham. While on the road the Magpies have been poor this season form has picked up with 3 wins from their last five games.

Crystal Palace vs Newcastle Prediction:

Newcastle are a very good price to win this game and we think they are on a roll and can come out as victors. It hasn’t been an easy season for the club and manager Eddie Howe has constantly had to readapt his side to the injuries they have had. Recent games point to the fact that Newcastle are on the right road. However Crystal Palace have found some form too and of course remain at home after putting 5 past hapless West Ham. But we think with Newcastle playing for more and a possible European place the club has to step up and let’s not forget that they have a pretty decent recent record over Palace. It is interesting to note the amount of 0-0 results recently but we believe this is a game which will see plenty of goals for two sides in form and with a lot of confidence.
