Nottm Forest vs Man City: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 28th April 2024
Kick off at 4:30pm BST
Venue: City Ground

Match Preview:

Nottingham Forest have a very difficult match to contend with and they will be the huge outsiders when they take on the champions. However there was good news for the club even before a ball was kicked given that Luton in 18th place lost on Saturday. It means that Forest are 1 point in front of the Hatters which is really 2 points because of goal difference. One would normally say this is a good opportunity to create a gap and feel safe for this season for Forest but of course it isn’t. Form is hardly encouraging with the club achieving no wins in their last three games with defeats against Tottenham and Everton and a draw against Wolves. At home the majority result has been the loss but the club has managed to go their last 3 games here unbeaten.

Manchester City can smell the league title although Arsenal may have something to say about that but Liverpool look out of the running now and City are one point above them and have 2 games in hand, indeed with all of the same games played in theory City would be in front and leading everyone by at least two points. City are looking very good for the title but there is still a job to be done. City have hit their stride once again and form is good having won their last 4 games in a row. The champions have scored an incredible 17 goals in their past four games and they are well on it now.

Team News:

Nottingham Forest: Taiwo Awoniyi and Willy Boly are out sidelined with no fixed return dates with muscle injuries.

Manchester City: Erling Haaland is the only doubt for the champions with a muscle injury and he will be assessed.

Head to Head:

Last season in this fixture Forest surprised City with a 1-1 draw.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture City won 2-0.

Manchester City have scored 9 goals past Nottingham Forest in their last 3 meetings.

There is a 60% chance to see over 2.5 goals.

Prediction:

As you’d expect City are big odds on to win this one and are around 1.25 which will put most punters off even if they should have few troubles. However in the recent two games the clubs played we have had a 1-1 and a 2-0 for City and the scores have been very close. However City has their firing boots on and watch out for Phil Foden who may well be voted as the best player of the season, when the chips have been down for Haaland Foden has risen and done exceptionally well and we think he can get on the score sheet again. Forest need to put in a performance but we think they will concede possession and be happy for the draw, with goal difference that would put them 3 points clear of Luton in theory, Forest need to be thinking ahead as if they go toe to toe with City they could lose heavy and that could damage their goal difference this is why we think Forest will try and put in a good defensive display probably will lose in the end but don’t be surprised if we don’t see as many goals and many would predict from a game like this and with City in such electric form.

Betting Tips:

Half Time/Full Time: Manchester City/Manchester City at 1.83

Anytime goalscorer: Phil Foden at 2.25
