Tottenham vs West Ham: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 18th October 2020
Kick off at 4:30pm BST
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Match Preview:

Tottenham come into this match on a high after qualifying for the Europa League group stages and remaining unbeaten in the league for 3 consecutive games.

After their slow start losing to Everton Tottenham have found their mojo and goals. They stuck 5 past Southampton and more impressively six past Manchester United in a historic win at Old Trafford.

Spurs have climbed up to sixth place and their campaign seems to be back on track. The club will also be boosted by the return of Gareth Bale who has recovered from injury and is set to play for the club for the first time in 7 years after leaving for Real Madrid.

The irony that West Ham have played much better since manager David Moyes has been giving orders from his home because of Covid-19 shouldn’t be lost on too many. The Hammers started the season poorly with two defeats, but they have impressed and really turned around their form. The 4-0 win over Wolves was a superb result but then that was followed up by beating Leicester 3-0 away from home. If the club remain as unpredictable as they have been in the last month it will be very difficult to understand what will happen next with them.

This is a very important game for West Ham, not only is it a London derby but they will have to face both Manchester City and Liverpool in their next two games and so it will be of importance to the club to pick up something here.

Team News:

Tottenham: Gareth Bale is 50/50 to return after some fitness issues but he is being tipped to take part in some of the game. Steven Bergwijn should be fine to return after a knock. Giovani Lo Celso and Eric Dier will be assessed with muscle injuries.

West Ham: Ryan Fredericks is only 50/50 to make the game after his hamstring injury from last month. Jack Wilshere’s contract has been terminated.

Tottenham vs West Ham Head to Head:

Last season Tottenham won this fixture 2-0.

From the last six league games West Ham have just 1 win.

There is a 60% chance to see under 2.5 goals.

Harry Kane has scored in the last 2 meetings and is on form.

Tottenham vs West Ham Prediction:

West Ham have really impressed in the last two games. Beating quality such as Wolves and Leicester is one thing, but scoring 7 goals in those games without conceding is another. This is why they remain a real danger to Tottenham.

Tottenham have yet to win at home after losing against Everton and then drawing to Newcastle. Rare to see a team led by Jose Mourinho to go three games without a win at home and whilst West Ham will give a good fight the quality of Tottenham should shine through. There is a feel good factor at the club who have worked hard and now with Bale back and in the dressing room that should boost them even more.
