Match Preview:
Southampton are bottom of the Premier League but they could well climb out of the relegation zone if they win here and other results go their way. While the Saints have been poor this season they have still been a club capable of pulling off surprises such as their recent win at Chelsea and a 0-0 draw against 3rd placed Manchester United. However the Saints have been poor at home and swap a couple of defeats for wins and they would come into this game in 12th place, fine margins and all that.
At home though Southampton has won just twice, one of those wins came earlier this month when they beat Leicester, however it was back to losing again in midweek when they fell to Brentford in a 2-0 defeat.
Tottenham are like a pacesetter in a marathon sometimes they look ahead and unbeatable and at other times they just watch others pass them by. March has been an improvement for Antonio Conte’s side, despite being dumped out of the Champions League their league form has improved with 3 wins in their last four as they try to fight off Liverpool and Newcastle for a final Champions League place. Last weekend it all felt routine which would have pleased Conte as Tottenham eased to a 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest. However the week before that summed up Tottenham as they lost to Wolves. As it stands the club are in 4th with 48 points and are only two points behind 3rd placed Manchester United however they have played a game more. Newcastle in 5th are 4 points behind Tottenham but have two games in hand.
Team News:
Southampton: The Saints have no new injuries although Juan Larios and Valentino Livramento are out long term.
Tottenham: Emerson Royal will be assessed after missing out last weekend due to a knock. Ryan Sessegnon, Hugo Lloris and Yves Bissouma all remain out until at least next month.

Tottenham’s main bug this season has been away form and while they have won five times they have also lost five and of course the worry is their recent away form losing 3 in the last four including back to back defeats against Leicester and Wolves hardly dangerous clubs this season. So facing the bottom club one would think of a good score and result for Tottenham and they have the talent to do so, but they have found it hard to click on the road picking up 18 points from 39.
Tottenham have had a good decade of results over Southampton and the key here will be to score early, that will settle them and should deflate the home side. Tottenham are odds on but are a decent price to win and we all know how hungry Harry Kane is right now to keep scoring goals so the 1.80 that Tottenham are to win this game seems quite generous. Also keep an eye out for Richarlison he has been very vocal over not starting games and in his last one was unlucky to have a goal ruled out by VAR so he will be determined to start scoring soon for the Londoners.
