Newcastle vs Bournemouth: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 9th November 2019
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: St. James' Park

Match Preview:

What relief last weekend would have been for Steve Bruce at Newcastle after the Magpies beat West Ham away 3-2. His team just seem to be doing enough between being incredibly poor, and average, and average may well just keep them up this season.

It would have been encouraging for Bruce to see Newcastle score 50% of their total goals in the season so far in one game, or could it be that they were just playing a side in West Ham who are in very poor form and low on confidence? Newcastle will be happy to return home though and this is quite a long trip for Bournemouth to make.

The Magpies come into this game in 15th place and have pulled 4 points clear of the bottom three. Form is average with 7 points picked up from the last 15 but with the win over West Ham and a 1-1 draw against Wolves the club have gone 2 games without defeat. At home they have won just once, against Manchester United, and because of draws they are unbeaten in their last 4 games.

Bournemouth have started the season well and are in 7th place with 16 points. They come into this game undefeated in their last 3 and have lost just once in their last five. Last weekend was another brilliant 3 points as they beat Manchester United 1-0.

Away from home tells a different story and recent form has seen Eddie Howe’s side win just 1 in their past four and that includes their last away match which ended in a disappointing 0-0 draw at bottom side Watford.

Newcastle vs Bournemouth Prediction:

Newcastle have failed to win consecutive games this season and this could be the perfect opportunity, as they seem to have gained some confidence. However Bournemouth cannot be taken lightly and will ask a lot of questions about a side who seem to be only able to raise their game against better teams. Whilst that is good, it is these type of matches at home that will count for or against Newcastle. With that said we will back the Magpies to get something from the encounter and will also back under fire striker Joelinton to get on the score sheet of a game which has the ingredients to be end to end and played with a lot of pace.
