Leicester vs Burnley: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 25th September 2021
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: King Power Stadium

Match Preview:

Though Leicester have recorded a couple of good wins in this campaign these might be worrying times for Brendan Rodgers because his side have lost 3 of their last four games. Last weekend the Foxes went down to Brighton in what would have been seen as a disappointing result for them.

Of course they have had some tough games too notably losing their last home game against Manchester City. Midweek helped though as Leicester overcame Millwall to knock them out of the EFL Cup and advance. So it hasn’t been a great start for the club granted but at the same time with six points and if they can win at the weekend they are still poised to move up the table and show their presence.

Burnley are in trouble though and they have no wins so far in the league and are in 19th place. Sean Dyche’s team have 1 single point and have lost 4 of their last 5 games which isn’t boding well for the season ahead. Like Leicester there was some good news in midweek as they easily beat Rochdale 4-1 to advance in the EFL Cup. In truth it was an expected win but the club will welcome that after their poor start to the campaign.

Team News:

Leicester: The club has no new injuries to report but Justin James and Wesley Fofana are out long term with leg injuries.

Burnley: Josh Brownhill is a concern as he has a dead leg and will be assessed. Wayne Hennessey is rated at 50/50 because of his ankle. Connor Roberts could return but has a lack of match fitness.

Leicester vs Burnley Head to Head:

Last season Leicester won this fixture 4-2.

The last time the teams played the game finished 1-1.

There have only been 2 wins for Burnley from the last 8 fixtures.

The last 5 meetings in a row has seen both sides to score.

Leicester vs Burnley Prediction

Leicester need to put a performance in at home, it’s what the fans will be expecting and with due respect they should be able to do this against Burnley. Leicester have played some good football but haven’t, as of yet, showed the real quality that has seen the club finish 5th for the past two seasons.

The players need to find that rhythm and this could be the game they find it in. As for Burnley there are clear problems at the club. For the past two seasons we have witnessed Dyche’s team start the season slow but just garner some good form somewhere along the line and be able to stay up. It is hard to see where that good run is going to come from this season on the evidence we have seen so far. This could be a long afternoon for the club.
