Match Preview:
This London derby will have a lot of interest attached to it as Fulham are trying to survive and Tottenham are trying to patch up an uneven season and aim for Europe.
Scott Parker’s Fulham side have been impressive in the past month and have earned 9 points from their last 15, and are unbeaten since the beginning of February. In 18th place they are just 3 points behind Newcastle and Brighton and have every chance to stay up. At the weekend they drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace. They seem to have a recent pattern to their results of win, draw, win, draw, and if thet continues, this game will be a win. However we all know patterns like that are pretty meaningless.
Despite their fighting spirit lately there is no getting away from the fact that the Cottagers have been poor at home with just 2 wins so far and seven defeats from 13 games. They have also scored just 8 goals at home which is the worst attacking record in the league.
Tottenham secured a 4-0 win over Burnley at the weekend and it was an excellent result for the club. Probably the emphasis was more on the teams upbeat attacking play than actually beating a team ranked in 15th place who had previously lost 11 times. Gareth Bale scored 2 goals and Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son put in an early season performance where they were both electric. This is how Tottenham will have to perform if they want to finish in the top 4.
However the club are in 8th place and have lost 3 of their last five games. Away from home Tottenham fans would want to look away as they have lost their last 3 games. Spurs have not won a game on the road since beating Sheffield United back in mid-January.
Team News:
Fulham: No new injuries for the club ahead of this game.
Tottenham: Spurs have no new injuries coming into this fixture and Giovani Lo Celso remains out with a long term muscle injury.
Fulham vs Tottenham Head to Head:
The last time the clubs played here just over two years ago Tottenham won 2-1.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture the game ended 1-1.
Fulham have not beaten Tottenham when at home since 2008.
The last 5 league meetings have seen both teams to score.
Fulham vs Tottenham Prediction:
It is obvious that Tottenham have more quality and their attacking front three should put some fear into Fulham. But Fulham will realise that Tottenham do not like getting bogged down in games and made to work hard. To their credit Fulham have been very difficult to play against as they try and survive in the league and the priority for them is to not lose, at least.
This has all the makings of being a game that could be settled by one goal. If the fire is back in the belly of Tottenham and they can now start a run they will be dangerous but will be made to work 110% for their win, if the players can realise this they will put the desired work rate in, otherwise they could be left disappointed.
This is a very difficult game to call, Fulham have the home advantage and the form, Tottenham have the quality. Therefore we think goals could be a better market to focus on, and we see at least a couple being scored, possibly with both teams getting on the scoresheet as they did earlier in the season.
