England Premier League
Saturday 2nd February 2019
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Goodison Park
Match Preview:
It’s not been the best of starts to the year for Everton who have been knocked out of the FA Cup and lost 2 league games so far. They will be slim favourites to get all three points against Wolves when the teams meet on Saturday at Goodison Park.
Manager Marco Silva remains under pressure but the club have won 2 of their last 3 games and are in 8th place. They are just two points behind 7th, and standing in their way is of course, Wolves - but can the club who have been so impressive this season be tamed?
Everton’s away form has not been good and overall form has hardly been inspiring but what has been worrying is their recent form where they have won just 1 game at home in their last five matches. For Silva to have a more relaxed time and breathing space the club will have to find some sort of consistency, and that in a nutshell has been the problem, they just haven’t found that all season and one wonders if that has affected the players confidence, which looks to be fairly low currently.
Wolves have the better form of the two clubs coming into this game where they have won their last two matches. But we must note that both of those wins against Leicester and West Ham came at home. Still Wolves have scored 7 goals in their last two matches which is impressive.
Wolves are no pushovers as Tottenham found out a few weeks ago at Wembley, and so Everton will have to be focused and be at their best if they are to get anything from this game.
Team News:
Everton: Leighton Baines has a knock though he has a good chance to make the squad and will be assessed. Lucas Digne is suspended for this game after his sending off against Huddersfield. Idrissa Gueye is said to have a minor knock and is in the running to be back for this game. Yerry Mina may be assessed for this game with a foot injury but Silva is expecting him to just miss out
Wolves: There are no new injuries for the club ahead of this game
Head to Head:
Earlier this season in the reverse fixture this game ended 2-2.
The teams have not played at Goodison Park since 2011 where Everton won 2-1.
From the last 7 meetings, 5 have ended as a draw, with no wins for Wolves.
3 of the last 4 meetings has seen the highest amount of goals in the first half.
