Everton vs West Brom: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 19th September 2020
Kick off at 12:30pm BST
Venue: Goodison Park

Match Preview:

If anything Everton’s win away to Tottenham last weekend put down a marker that the club have improved over the summer. It was only a couple of months ago that Everton put in one of their poorest displays of the season in losing to Tottenham. Jose Mourinho’s side were poor that day too, but won 1-0.

The additions to the Everton side namely James Rodriguez and Allan have really boosted the club and evidently the dressing room. There is a feel good factor at the club at this present time and the Toffees will feel that this game at home against West Bromwich Albion could be another win.

In midweek Everton knocked out Salford in the Carabao Cup. It was an expected win but as the club well know you have to get past what is put out in front of you and the club ran out 3-0 winners and were able to rest the majority of the first team. This is a cup (the league cup) that Everton have never won, and so they will be happy to advance.

All attentions will be turned to this game and Ancelotti will have his strongest squad out as they go for all three points for this Saturday lunch time kick off.

West Bromwich Albion face a tricky trip to Goodison Park after being soundly beaten 3-0 at home against a rampant Leicester side. Manager Slaven Bilic will be concerned given that he saw his club have just 1 shot on target the entire game. Because of goal difference the Baggies come into this game in last place and the club will be hoping that isn’t some sort of foreshadowing for how the rest of the season will play out.

Team News:

Everton: Joungster Jarrad Branthwaite picked up an ankle injury but there are no major new injuries for the club. Fabian Delph is being tipped to return after a lack of match fitness, but may only be good to start from the bench

West Brom: There are no new injuries for the club coming into this game

Everton vs West Brom Head to Head:

The last time the clubs met here was back in 2018 when the game finished 1-1.

In the last 7 meetings to have taken place at Goodison Park, West Brom have won just once which was back in 2016.

There is a 70% chance to see under 2.5 goals.

Everton vs West Brom Prediction:

Everton are looking confident and slick and the bookmakers have latched onto that with the club being priced at around 1.50. West Brom are out to 6.00 and that is good value in a two horse race.

However it would be a surprise to see Everton not come away with the win with all the creative players they have at their disposal now. Also West Brom rarely get anything away to Everton and recent results have not been encouraging for them. There is better value in taking Everton on to be leading at half time but we will take them to win this game and also look into the goalscorers market, as we think the club could score a few goals on Saturday.

Everton vs West Brom Betting Tips:

Everton to beat West Brom at 1.50

Anytime goalscorer: Richarlison at 2.25
