Crystal Palace vs Man Utd: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Wednesday 3rd March 2021
Kick off at 8:15pm GMT
Venue: Selhurst Park

Match Preview:

Crystal Palace will be the underdogs when they take on Manchester Utd in midweek but the Eagles have turned some of their form around and come into this match unbeaten in their last two after a win over Brighton and a draw against Fulham. Palace get the luck of playing their 2nd consecutive home game.

Now 10 points clear of the bottom three Palace will surely be safe and one would think they would get two more wins, which should assure them of survival for this season. Home form overall has been mixed and recent home form has seen the club win just once in their last four games.

Manchester United are 2nd but the league really does look over now as they drew 0-0 at Chelsea, which was a decent result but Manchester City won at the weekend to increase their lead to 12 points, now coming into this game City are 15 clear.

United aren’t losing games but they are aren’t winning either and have drawn 3 of their last four. Their objective will be to finish 2nd most certainly and keep Leicester behind them, the Foxes are one point behind.

On the road Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team have the 3rd best record in the league and are yet to lose. However, they have just dropped points recently on the road with three straight draws.

Team News:

Crystal Palace: Nathaniel Clyne is a major doubt with a muscle injury. Wayne Hennessey could return after some fitness issues and will face a late test. Jeffrey Schlupp is back in training and will be assessed ahead of the game as has Connor Wickham. Wilfried Zaha is touch and go for this game and will face a late test.

Manchester United: Edinson Cavani is 50/50 to return and is back in training and has a good chance. Juan Mata is out with a muscle injury. Paul Pogba has a thigh injury.

Crystal Palace vs Man Utd Head to Head:

Last season Manchester United won this fixture 2-0.

Earlier in the season Crystal Palace won at Old Trafford 3-1.

There is a 60% chance to see over 2.5 goals.

Crystal Palace vs Man Utd Prediction:

Crystal Palace can be a difficult side to face and will set up with probably five at the back and try and counter attack. Manchester United will have respect for Palace no doubt as they can be very hard to break down but United have an excellent away record and a very good recent away record over Palace, and will be out to get some revenge over their loss earlier in the season.

Edinson Cavani could return for the Red Devils and if he does get on him to have his firing boots back on, if not Marcus Rashford has been in form and is worth a pick. But all in all United should have enough to get the victory but it will be hard work, for some reason being the away team seems to give an advantage when these two teams play.
