Chelsea vs Man Utd: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 28th February 2021
Kick off at 4.30pm GMT
Venue: Stamford Bridge

Match Preview:

A huge game will take place on Sunday when Chelsea meet Manchester United. There is added flavour here so to speak given that Chelsea’s new manager Thomas Tuchel has got off to such a flying start and is undefeated since taking over the club.

Chelsea need to get their top 4 plans back on track after they let West Ham pass when they could only draw 1-1 away to Southampton. Though Chelsea have been brilliant and look like a new side under Tuchel they have drawn two games under him already.

In midweek Chelsea pulled off a fantastic result by beating La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League knock out game and that will just add to the confidence within this exciting side.

Manchester United are 2nd and 10 points behind Manchester City but the Red Devils will not be giving up the chase just yet. It only takes a few bad games for City to be reeled in- the problem though is that doesn’t look like happening. As for United, midweek brought joy as they beat Spanish outfit Real Sociedad to advance to the Europa League quarter finals where they will play Milan in what promises to be quite a contest.

Whilst United are not losing games they have dropped a few points over the past month and recorded three draws from their last five games. Last weekend though it was all about winning and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team beat Newcastle 3-1.

Away from home United are the only side in the Premier League who remain undefeated and have earned 28 points from 36. Though 3 from their last four games have ended in draws.

Team News:

Chelsea: Thiago Silva is out with his muscle injury and isn’t expected back until next week at the earliest. Silva remains the only doubt for the Blues ahead of the game.

Manchester United: Edinson Cavani has a muscle injury but is being pencilled in to return for this game and could play some part. Daniel James will be assessed after what is thought to be a minor muscle injury. Juan Mata will miss the next 10 days at least with a muscle injury. Scott McTominay could be back for this game after his recent knock. Paul Pogba may face a late test but he looks likely to miss this one with his thigh injury.

Chelsea vs Man Utd Head to Head:

Last season Manchester United won this game 2-0.

Chelsea haven’t beaten Manchester United at home since 2017.

There is a 60% chance to see under 2.5 goals.

Chelsea vs Man Utd Prediction:

This could be the most exciting game of the weekend as these two teams clash. Manchester United are trying to remain 2nd at least and Chelsea are gunning down on West Ham and 4th place. Chelsea have been rock solid under Tuchel and they will turn to him to end United’s away unbeaten record and their recent average record over the Red Devils.

Manchester United haven’t been as good as they were just before Christmas and into January and there has been a clear dip. It’s almost as if the players realise that the league title will not be happening this season but at the same time they look a shoe in for a top 4 place.

But Chelsea at home and with good feelings at the moment after beating one of the best sides in Europe in Atletico Madrid feels like this is how the game will go. United will have their moments but their away record could be coming to an end at the weekend.
