Burnley vs Fulham: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 12th January 2019
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Turf Moor

Match Preview:

Is the tide finally changing for Burnley, who have been so poor this season? Sean Dyche’s team have won back to back games after wins against West Ham and Huddersfield and they are now in 16th place as a result. Although they are just two points clear of the relegation zone so there is still plenty of work to be done, these wins have to be seen as a confidence boost to the team.

This will be a genuine bottom of the table clash though and for that it should be an intriguing one and could give us an early indication of which of these teams we could expect to stay up.

Burnley have won 2 of their last 3 games at home although sandwiched in the middle of that is their 5-1 loss against Everton. The club are shipping 2 goals a game at home but will feel confident that they can get something at the weekend and change around their fortunes.

Fulham inevitably lost against Arsenal in their last game which ended in a 4-1 defeat. That loss ended a 3 game unbeaten run for The Cottagers. But they remain 19th in the league as they have won just 1 game from their past six.

Away from home Fulham have the worst record in the league and Claudio Ranieri’s team still have not won on the road. They have lost 9 games from the 11 played and have conceded 28 goals which is also the worst record in the league.

Team News:

Burnley: Robert Brady is serving a 3 game match ban for his red card against Huddersfield. Gudmundsson will be assessed after his thigh injury. Matthew Lowton could be back after picking up a knock. Phillip Bardsley has the same problem and is 50/50 make this game.

Fulham: Neeskens Kababo should be back in the squad after suffering a minor knock. There are no new major injuries for the club.

Burnley vs Fulham Head to Head:

The teams last played here in 2015 when Burnley won 3-1.

Burnley vs Fulham Prediction:

We are going to opt for the home win here. It is a risk since Burnley have been poor this season but their form has picked up and they have a good history at home against Fulham. Adding more weight behind our decision is that Fulham have such a poor record on the road. Burnley have a real chance to go clear of the bottom three and put some distance between themselves and Fulham, they are at home and simply cannot blow this chance.
