Wolves vs Arsenal: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 20th April 2024
Kick off at 7:30pm BST
Venue: Molineux Stadium

Match Preview:

Wolves could in theory finish Arsenal’s season off if they were to win this game, because when you are battling Manchester City and Liverpool you can’t drop points twice in a row. Wolves are in 11th place with 43 points and they still have an outside chance of qualifying for Europe however one would sense that this could be the clubs final chance of having a say, lose this and if results go against them they could end up being a good 8 points behind their target that would seem too much of a stretch.

The club's form has been patchy with just 5 points won from their last 15 and last weekend they drew 2-2 away to Nottingham Forest. Their last home game finished in a 2-1 defeat by West Ham and overall at home their majority result is the win with seven so far.

Arsenal have had a poor week where they suffered a shock home loss against Aston Villa losing 2-0 and not many despite how well Villa have played this season would have seen that. The Gunners followed up that result by being knocked out of the Champions League at the quarter final stage as they lost their 2nd leg match with Bayern Munich 1-0. So now it’s all about trying to win the league and Arsenal come into this game trailing league leaders Manchester City by two points. City are playing in the FA Cup this weekend and so a victory for Arsenal here would put them back into 1st place.

Team News:

Wolves: Rayan Ait Nouri will be assessed after recovering from a knee injury. Jean-Ricner Bellegarde has a knee injury and is less likely to make this game and is currently rated as 50/50. Leon Chiwone has been ruled out for the season with an ankle injury.Pedro Neto is out until May and might not return with a hamstring injury

Arsenal: The club has no new injuries and only Jurrien Timber who has been a long term injury is missing through a knee injury

Wolves vs Arsenal Prediction:

Points have recently been dropped by Arsenal and one wonders how the club will react to being dumped out of the Champions League? However let’s remind ourselves that currently the Gunners have the best away record in the league having won 33 points from 48. Not only that with 37 goals scored Arsenal has the best goalscoring record away from home and also with just 11 goals conceded they have the best defence on the road. Three of those goals shipped came against Luton so their defence on the road really has been excellent overall and we think the club will dig deep and get the win and end Wolves’ chances of Europe for next season, although Arsenal really must step up and play the game they know. But that is what it comes down too- Arsenal has the better side, but which side wants the win more? We think Mikel Arteta’s side will be too strong and they are odds on but a decent price to get the points.
