Bournemouth vs Brighton: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 28th April 2024
Kick off at 2pm BST
Venue: Vitality Stadium

Match Preview:

Both clubs may feel that they have the last opportunity at one lunge for a European finish but in reality this looks like being a very outside chance and would require that one of the clubs wins their remaining games. However if this is the feeling then maybe there is a chance that we will witness a very entertaining game in the face of a match up that could otherwise look as if it is a dead rubber.

Bournemouth’s win over Wolves in their last game ended a 3 match winless run and they come into this game in 10th place and it would feel like a solid achievement if the club could finish in the top half of the table. Home form has seen 6 wins but also the same amount of draws. Recent form has seen three wins at home and 11 points have been won from their last 15 on offer.

Brighton have underperformed this season but can remain a dangerous side and they sit just behind Bournemouth in 11th place. The Seagulls were beaten 4-0 at home in their last game against Manchester City and could only draw 1-1 away to Burnley recently. In fact Robert De Zerbi’s side have almost gone the past two months without a win. The clubs majority result away from home is the loss with 8 so far from 17 games played and their last win on the road came at Sheffield United ten weeks ago. The club has drawn their last two away games in a row.

Team News:

Bournemouth: Milos Kerkez is suspended for 3 weeks, Marcus Tavernier remains sidelined with a hamstring injury and isn’t due back for at least two weeks. There are long term injuries for Tyler Adams, Romain Favre and Ryan Fredericks.

Brighton: Billy Gilmour and James Milner are nearing a return but it is thought that this game could come too early for the pair but they might be assessed but have a much better chance of returning next weekend. There are long term injuries for Soloman March, Kaoru Mitoma, Tariq Lamptey, Jack Hinshelwood, Pervis Estupinan and Evan Ferguson.

Bournemouth vs Brighton Head to Head:

Last season Brighton won this fixture 2-0.

Brighton have won the last 3 meetings in a row.

Bournemouth have won just 2 matches from the past seven meetings.

Bournemouth vs Brighton Prediction:

Here we have two equal sides with not much between them but we have enjoyed the attitude of Bournemouth this week more so than Brighton. There have been rumours that Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi could leave his post in the summer and if this is true this would have certainly filtered down to the team. There seems to be some negativity in the Brighton camp and perhaps a feeling that De Zerbi has taken the club as far as he can take them.

Brighton remain a good club at home despite conceding a total of 7 goals against Manchester City and Arsenal lately but that is to be expected at this time of the season with those clubs really going for the league title. Bournemouth are a very good price at home and we believe they are ready to turn the tide on recent results and this seems like a great opportunity to back the home side.
