Newcastle vs Everton: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League

Kick off at 7:30pm BST
Venue: St. James' Park

Match Preview:

Newcastle will stay at home and there was a party atmosphere at the weekend as the Magpies came back from being 3-1 down against West Ham to win 4-3 in a stunning game. That result has pushed the club up to 8th place with 43 points and they will be eyeing to leapfrog the Hammers with a win in midweek over Everton. Form has been inconsistent for Newcastle with just two wins in their past five and they have struggled to win consistently this has anchored the club no doubt however at home they have now won their last two in a row and have remained unbeaten in their last four games. Indeed it’s almost been 3 months since Eddie Howe’s side last lost at home which was against Manchester City.

Everton have still not won a game this year as they lost their 14th game of the season at the weekend against Bournemouth. Bournemouth had taken the lead but Beto who has been underwhelming for the club equalised then Seamus Coleman scored an error chesting the ball into his own and the misery continued for the Toffees. Despite another loss the weekend did not turn out too badly in the end as Nottingham Forest could only draw and Luton lost, for now Everton stay in 16th place and are 3 points clear of the bottom three but have also have a crucial 8 goal difference advantage over Luton in 18th and that serves as an extra point. Everton have lost their last three games in a row with defeats against West Ham, Manchester United and then Bournemouth. Recent away form has seen 3 defeats from their last four and their only game where they were able to pick up a point in the last couple of months came against Brighton.

Newcastle vs Everton Prediction:

Newcastle’s strength is staying at home and the team will be pumped up by how they came back at the weekend from what looked like a certain defeat. However the problems for the club this season have been the amount of injuries and they may well have lost a couple more for this game and former Everton player Anthony Gordon was sent off so he won’t be able to face Everton. So for Newcastle whilst we can believe they are the favourites to win they are really struggling with injuries.

For Everton they are severely lacking in confidence and Newcastle is not an easy place to come to and they have a poor recent record up here too. It’s becoming a worry for Everton fans to see where the next win is coming from but there are performances in this team and we will see in the coming weeks if Sean Dyche has what it takes to get the best out of his players who look a little tired now. This should be an interesting game and more level than it looks on paper with the Magpies injuries but we wouldn’t be surprised if the home side can edge this one and then have Europe in their sights once more.
