Brighton vs Nottm Forest: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 10th March 2024
Kick off at 2pm GMT
Venue: Amex Stadium

Match Preview:

Brighton had bad news in midweek in the Europa League as they were beaten 4-0 by Roma away from home in the 1st leg of their knockout game. That humbling may affect this game as the Seagulls try to finish strong in the league to participate in European football next season. Currently they are in 9th place and five points short of that target. Recent form has been a real mix but just one victory in their past four games which came against bottom club Sheffield United, since then they drew at home to Everton and lost 3-0 away to Fulham.

At home Robert De Zerbi’s side have only lost one game although they have drawn 6 times and won six times. Those draws have anchored the club and they have the 8th best home record at present. Currently the club has a win draw pattern at home going back to December and if this followed then the Seagulls would be due a win.

For Nottingham Forest 3 points here would be huge as they sit in 17th place with 24 points and are just four in front of the bottom three. If all goes well Forest could finish the weekend as high as 15th so there is a lot to play for here. They will also know the fates of the two teams above them in Brentford and Everton. Forest are in a poor moment though where they have lost 3 of their past four games including back to back defeats against Aston Villa and Liverpool. The Liverpool one would have hit hard as they were beaten by a 97th minute goal. On the road there hasn’t been much to shout about with just 2 wins so far from 13 games played and their latest away game ended in a 4-2 loss against Aston Villa. Forest are searching for their first away win this year.

Team News:

Brighton: Billy Gilmour is suspended and won’t return until the end of the month. Joao Pedro is out for at least 2-3 weeks with a hamstring injury. James Milner is still sidelined with a muscle injury but could be back in 3 weeks. Kaoru Mitoma could miss the rest of the season with a back injury and is not due back until May. Jack Hinshelwood is sidelined with a foot injury and Solomon March is out long term with his knee injury

Nottingham Forest: Ola Aina, Willy Boly, Giovanni Reyna and Chris Wood are all doubts with fitness issues but all will be assessed ahead of this game. Nuno Tavares looks set to miss out with a knock, Nicolas Dominguez is expected to be fine after a hamstring scare

Brighton vs Nottm Forest Prediction:

Nottingham Forest need the points and we sense that they will be on the attack and try to play higher up the field after seeing how Brighton collapsed in Europe in midweek, and Forest should be the brighter and more energised of the two sides given that they didn’t have to play a game let alone have to travel to Italy this week. Brighton have a solid record at home in terms of not losing games but have also been inconsistent here. This for us seems like a great opportunity for Forest to spring a surprise and they are great value. Be cautious of course because the club are not in good form, but there is some good value here when you consider how disappointed Brighton must be after the Roma match. How well do they respond? Let’s see how they can do this. That will be interesting. We expect to see goals and this fixture has a good record for that so get on that market also.
