Brentford vs Man Utd: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 30th March 2024
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: Brentford Community Stadium

Match Preview:

Brentford still have problems and with 26 points so far they could easily be sucked into a relegation fight. Recent form has been a concern with just 1 point won from their last 15 on offer and Everton and Luton are the immediate threat to the Bees. Before the break Brentford lost against Arsenal away from home in a game that only finished in a 2-1 defeat. However in the next match Thomas Frank’s side lost to Burnley, a club who had only previously won 3 games since August. The majority of the club's results so far at home have ended in defeat with 6 from 14 games and 4 wins. The Bees have not tasted victory on home soil for just over two months when they beat Nottingham Forest, their last home game finished in a 2-2 draw against Chelsea.

Manchester United are setting their sights on 5th place which may open up another Champions League place due to England’s coefficient rankings. United who, for most of the season, have not looked like they had a chance in qualifying for the elite competition may have found an extra energy to proceedings and the feeling is that the club will give everything in the final hurdles of the season. It’s just one loss for Erik ten Hag’s side in their last five games but consistently winning games still seems to be a problem with draws dotted around their victories. The club did win their last game before the break beating Everton 2-0 but their huge victory came in the FA Cup as they knocked Liverpool out in an epic encounter which finished 4-3 to them. United are in sixth place and have 47 points and are currently six points behind 5th placed Tottenham so there is work to do, they need to be wary of the threat West Ham pose who are a position behind but just three points behind also.

Brentford vs Man Utd Head to Head:

Last season in this fixture was one for the ages as Brentford infamously beat Manchester United 4-0.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Manchester United won 2-1.

From the last 10 meetings Manchester United have won 8 of them, one loss and one draw.

Brentford vs Man Utd Prediction:

Manchester United have the team to not only beat Brentford but do so convincingly and yet not many people would give you that prediction. Because of how United have been this season in their application where one week they look like a top four side and the next a bottom half of the table one at least the market is generous and United can be backed at around 2.20 to win the game. This is a price that we are tempted to take on but we are still at a stage where no one knows what United side will turn up, for long standing fans that cannot be good enough.

On the other hand Brentford have not shown us much this year in order for us to be convinced that they can start winning games and of course have been one of the poorest sides over the past month. Their fantastic 4-0 victory over United last season was something for the memory but no one really expects that type of result to repeat, it appears to be just one of those days. The away win is our choice here.
