Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Tuesday 2nd April 2024
Kick off at 7:45pm BST
Venue: Vitality Stadium

Match Preview:

At the weekend Bournemouth were the favourites to beat troubled Everton but that game looked to be heading for a draw until Seamus Coleman, the Everton defender made an error and scored an own goal and the Cherries walked off with all 3 points. The home side are in 13th place and with 38 points are well safe with almost two months of the season left to play. This also marked Bournemouth’s 2nd win in a row and they have gone their last four games without defeat, with their last one having been five weeks ago when they only narrowly lost against Manchester City. This is a good moment for Bournemouth in what could well have been one where the players could have lost the motivation and drive given that they were safe but looked too far from a possible European finish- if they win here European thoughts will certainly enter the mind.

Crystal Palace are one place below their hosts but there is a big points gap of 8. The Eagles look like they will be safe this season but will want another four or five points to confirm that so this game would be huge for them if they were able to pull off a win. At the weekend Oliver Glasner’s side drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest but were leading in that game. That was the clubs second successive 1-1 draw but it did result in just one loss in their last five as the club try to steer to safety with their new manager at the helm. Palace have lost almost 50% of their games away from home and haven’t won this year on the road and are averaging almost 2 goals conceded per game on the road.

Team News:

Bournemouth: Ryan Christie is expected to miss out here with a knee injury but it isn’t thought to be too serious. Marcos Senesi will miss out with his hamstring but could be back at the weekend, Luis Sinisterra isn't’ expected back until the end of April due to his hamstring.

Crystal Palace: Chieck Doucoure, Rob Holding, Sam Johnstone, Marc Guehi, Matheus Franca, Michael Olise and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi are all out long term although there is no new injuries to report for the Eagles.

Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace Head to Head:

Last season Crystal Palace won this fixture 2-0.

Bournemouth have managed 3 wins from the past 10 games.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Bournemouth won 2-0.

The last 6 meetings in a row have witnessed under 2.5 goals.

Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace Prediction:

Bournemouth are in decent form and quite difficult to beat at home, even the champions Manchester City found that a task. Palace are 8 points behind them so can’t even move up a place with a win and we would be very surprised if Glasner’s side came here and pulled off a win. This is a difficult fixture to predict because it has draw written all over it. The home side will come out to attack, eyeing a fighting top table finish but Palace need to be respected and can be a stubborn well organised side. This has a recent history of under goals and we believe that will be the case again. We will opt for the home side because their price is tempting and they have proven over the past month that they will be fighting for the points when it would have been easy not too, and that has earned our respect.
