Arsenal vs Aston Villa: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 14th April 2024
Kick off at 4:30pm BST
Venue: Emirates Stadium

Match Preview:

The advantage for Mikel Arteta’s side is that they will know what they have to do as by the time this game kicks off Manchester City and Liverpool would have played their games. In the Champions League in midweek Arsenal came back against Bayern Munich to draw 2-2 in the 1st leg but the Gunners will not be favourites to advance to the semi finals given that the 2nd leg is in Germany. But for now there is a league title to be won, it would be Arsenal’s first in 20 years and they must win this game to have any chance of continuing in the title fight. Recent form at home has seen 9 wins and 1 draw from their past 10 games and 38 points won from 45. The club's last home game finished in a 2-0 win over Luton and last weekend they were able to go to a club that had been a banana skin team for them in Brighton and walk away with a great 3-0 victory.

Aston Villa will be looking at Tottenham’s defeat this weekend and this is a huge chance for the club to keep 4th place and even advance Tottenham by 3 points. Unai Emery’s side beat Lille 2-1 in their first leg Europa Conference League match in midweek but form in the league has really dipped. Villa will finish lowest 5th place which is fantastic but it would be a bitter pill to swallow if they got pipped for fourth and a Champions League place. Of course many will expect Emery’s side to lose this game as the former Arsenal manager takes on his old side. Villa has just one win in their past five games which came at home against Wolves and last weekend they could only draw 3-3 again at home to Brentford. On the road Villa have been overall stable and would be the fourth best side based on that with 7 wins from 16 games although they have gone their past two games without a win, the clubs last away game ended in a 4-1 smashing at Manchester City.

Arsenal vs Aston Villa Prediction:

Arsenal are odds on at 1.30 and while the majority of punters would be surprised if they went on to draw or lose the game that price isn’t going to attract many. We think Arsenal will be focused on this game given their status in the league and how much it would mean to the club to finally win the league, however there is no doubt the Champions League 2nd leg will also be playing on their minds. Aston Villa are dangerous, that doesn't mean we think they will beat Arsenal, but it does mean this game could be tighter than people think, and therefore backing Villa on a kind handicap could be the way to go.

Arsenal vs Aston Villa Betting Tips:

Asian handicap (+2.0 Aston Villa) at 1.61

Anytime goalscorer: Gabriel Martinelli at 2.60

Over 2.5 goals at 1.44
