West Ham vs Brighton: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 1st February 2020
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: London Stadium

Match Preview:

West Ham are not winning games and as a result they are getting dangerously close to the bottom three. Only goal difference is keeping them from joining company with the likes of Norwich.

The Hammers have gone 4 games without a win and their last match ended in a predictable 2-0 defeat against Liverpool at home, and it has been the clubs home form which has let them down. They have lost 7 of their 12 games and conceded 22 goals at London Stadium.

Manager David Moyes has been in need of some fresh injection and one player who could stand out has arrived on loan from Slavia Prague in Tomas Soucek who plays as a defensive midfielder. He is 24 and can hopefully lead from the back.

Brighton are in 15th place and are two points in front of their hosts. Form has been poor and the club have not won a game since the Christmas period when they beat Bournemouth. Interestingly their last match ended in a 3-1 defeat in the reverse fixture against Eddie Howe’s side.

Brighton have the 2nd to worse away record in the league gaining just 8 points from a possible 36 and they come into this game having lost their last 3 away trips in a row.

Team News:

West Ham: Michail Antonio could return from his hamstring injury and would be a big bonus for the club who have missed him. Felipe Anderson is not due back for at least another 3 weeks with his back injury.

Brighton: Shane Duffy has been ruled out with a shin injury. Beram Kayal is 50/50 to make this game as he has picked up a groin injury.

West Ham vs Brighton Head to Head:

Last season this fixture ended 2-2.

West Ham have not beaten Brighton since 2012.

3 of the last 4 meetings has seen both teams to score.

West Ham vs Brighton Prediction:

Brighton are not in good form but then again neither are West Ham. However it seems to come down to this from a West Ham perspective; they have to play Manchester City and then Liverpool away in their next two games, they will probably lose both and if they lose this one on top then they are sure to be in the bottom three and that is when the struggle could really start for survival. Moyes needs a Bournemouth performance when his club went out and won 4-0 and never looked in danger, the players owe it to the fans at home to at least show some fight, let’s see if they can do it. We feel West Ham have enough to take something from this game, and we also think both teams are likely to get on the scoresheet.

West Ham vs Brighton Betting Tips:
