Match Preview:

After five games Cardiff are still looking for their first win and find themselves in the slightly unnerving position of 17^th. If they finish here next May they will be happy, but Neil Warnock will want his team to start collecting points soon. Unlucky for them Pep Guardiola’s champions Manchester City are coming to town.

The good news for Cardiff as proved against Arsenal in their close 3-2 loss is that they will raise their game for this meeting and Warnock will relish going head to head with Guardiola, one of the best managers in world football of the past 10 years.

Cardiff have had two very tough back to back fixtures against Arsenal and Chelsea and whilst they scored in both they also conceded 7, and this doesn’t bode well for this game.

As for Manchester City they need to keep winning to close the two point gap on Liverpool and can’t let them get breathing space. The only news to talk about this week concerning City was their shock home loss against Ligue 1 side Lyon in the Champions League. Lyon themselves have not started their league campaign that well and City did not play well. Guardiola was criticised for not starting with Sergio Aguero and we should expect the Argentinian to be playing in this game.

Cardiff: Harry Arter could be in contention after having a mild illness in the last game v Chelsea. Aron Gunnarson will be gunning for a return after returning from training. Josh Murphy will be assessed after suffering a knock earlier this month

Manchester City: Benjamin Mendy will miss this game due to a knee injury

Manchester City are not in their greatest moment and it will be interesting how they approach this game. On paper they have a team to score 5 or 6 goals but they should encounter a very physical side in Cardiff. It will be worth looking into the card market for this game. If Aguero is chosen which we should be he will have a point to prove and we will back him to score anytime. But Cardiff can have their own say in this game too, we have to remember they have been able to score against quality teams like Chelsea and Arsenal.
