Wolves vs Bournemouth: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League

Venue: Molineux Stadium

Match Preview:

Wolves and Bournemouth have had similar seasons and while there have been plenty of positives to take from the campaign both look set to miss out on a European place. One would imagine that the clubs would have to win all of their remaining five games to have any outside chance now. Wolves are in 11th place and last weekend they were beaten 2-0 at home to Arsenal and recent form has started to suffer with just 2 points won from their last 15. At home their majority result is still the win with 7 from 16 games played however it’s been six weeks since they last tasted victory at home and they have lost their last two in a row. The club does have a chance to move past Brighton with a win here.

Bournemouth are in 13th place and after having a pretty solid 2024 so far one has to wonder if that is unravelling now? The Cherries have gone their last 3 games without a win after defeats against Luton and Aston Villa and in between those games they drew 2-2 at home to Manchester United. This is an opportunity for the club to go past their hosts and if results fall right they could well move up 3 places in midweek. The clubs majority result away from home is defeat though with 8 so far marking a 50% rate, it's been seven weeks since they won on the road.

Team News:

Wolves: Matheus Cunha could be assessed but is only 50/50 to make this game and may not be risked due to a calf injury. Pedro Neto is not expected back for this game but may return before the end of the month due to fitness issues. Craig Dawson and Leon Chiwone are both out for the season.

Bournemouth: Romain Faivre will be assessed with a slight knock, Tyler Adams is 50/50 to return from a back injury, Chris Mepham may return from illness. Marcus Tavernier is out for at least two weeks with his hamstring , Luis Sinisterra is out for the season with the same injury and Ryan Fredericks is also out for the season.

Wolves vs Bournemouth Head to Head:

Last season Bournemouth won this fixture 1-0.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Wolves won 2-1.

There is a 60% chance to see both teams to score.

Wolves vs Bournemouth Prediction:

If we look at recent games only there are no real patterns and this fixture can bring up any type of result no matter who is the home side. Granted Wolves have been the more dominant force in recent matches with 4 wins from the last seven meetings but at home there has been no consistency over their opponent. Both sides are not playing for much regarding league standards but both still have a chance to try and finish in the top half of the table. They have had fairly equal seasons so far and we think this game will reflect that, we will back the home side to just get the result.

For Bournemouth Dominic Solanke has not given up a possible surprise top goalscorer of the season and he has remained consistent, and backing both teams to score could also make perfect sense. But we only expect a winner to have a one goal advantage in this game.
