Our first selection (Genk) aren't having the best of seasons so far, however this is mainly down to their terrible away form of just 2 wins from 11 games. At their home ground, Luminus Arena, they are a considerably more dangerous team, with a home record of 7 wins, 2 draws, and only 2 losses all season. This home form has included impressive wins against strong teams like Oostende, Waregem, and Gent, and their only 2 losses were a red card affected match against 2nd placed team Anderlecht, and a surprising loss against Lokeren even though Genk dominated the match. Their home record against today's opponents Kortrijk is very impressive also, having won the last 5 time Kortrijk visited. Kortrijk are on a terrible run of form having lost their last 7 straight league games, scoring only 5 goals, yet conceding a large 21 goals in the process (3 per game on average), whereas Genk have won their last 2 without conceding a goal, so we know which team should have the higher confidence right now. This should be a great opportunity for Genk to pick up all 3 points tonight, and as long as there are no upsets similar to Liverpool v Swansea, then this selection should stand a great chance.
Our second selection (Total goals - Over 1.5) in the Brighton v Cardiff game should also stand a great chance. Brighton are one of the highest goal scoring teams when having home advantage, with 27 scored in 13 home games. They have scored 2 or more goals in their last 5 home games, and their home league games have contained 2 or more goals 85% of the time this season. The reason Brighton a proficient scorers is because they have a couple of players who really know how to find the back of the net, Glenn Murray and Anthony Knockaert, who have 25 goals between them, although Glenn Murray will be suspended for this game. Their opponents tonight (Cardiff) are familiar with goals going in at either end when away from home, having scored 16 and conceded 22 in their 12 away games. This has resulted in their away games only once failing to score more than 1 goal this season. I think this could be an open game, with plenty of attacking, as both teams are in good form and will be looking to take points away from this game, therefore a couple of goals should be very achievable.
