Tipster's Double #268

Monday's Fixtures.

Double
Manchester City v Burnley - Asian handicap (-1 Manchester City)
Sunderland v Liverpool - Asian handicap (-1 Liverpool)

At time of posting, odds of 1.84

These selections can be found in the England Premier League.

Our first selection (Asian handicap -1 Manchester City) simply put is a must win game. Man City and Pep Guardiola's millions are struggling by the standards that would have been expected of them. Guardiola comes with the biggest reputation in the game, and he had the biggest budget to spend in the transfer market on top of already having possibly the most expensive and talented squad of last season, yet he and Man City are appearing to struggle this season. Therefore, at home to Burnley today just has to be 3 points as anything other than a City home win would simply be unacceptable, and may even raise questions over some of Guardiola's decisions, like doing his best to get rid of Joe Hart at the start of the season. Fortunately for Man City, Burnley have the poorest away record in the league, managing just 1 point from 8 away games, scoring just 2 goals and conceding 18. This really should be a walk in the park for City, however as we saw last season with Leicester, anything can happen.

Our second selection (Asian handicap -1 Liverpool) must be fancied for this game. Liverpool have dropped just 2 points from their last 5 games, which included a win against Manchester City last time out, and despite defensive issues earlier in the season they have only conceded 1 goal in their last 4 games. On paper this should be a comfortable win against today's opponents (Sunderland), with the only real concerns being fatigue and complacency after battling to a narrow win over Man City last time out. Sunderland were embarrassingly beaten 4-1 by Burnley in their last match to make it 4 losses from the last 5 games, with only a home win over struggling Watford breaking up a dismal run of results. Sunderland's performances have been better of late at the Stadium of Light, with 3 wins from their last 4, however their best defender is now injured (Lamine Kone), which is likely to make a big difference. With Kone out injured, i can't see Sunderland holding off what should be relentless pressure from Liverpool today, and therefore I expect 3 points for Liverpool.
