Our first selection (St Etienne) are in a three way battle to win Group C, level on 5 points with Anderlecht and Mainz, and this match with FK Qabala is a game they will be looking to come away from with points considering FK Qabala have lost each of their Group C games so far. St Etienne aren't a high scoring team but they are usually very strong defensively which makes them difficult to beat, so far losing just 2 of their 14 domestic league games this season, and conceding less than a goal per game. FK Qabala are top of their domestic league in Azerbaijan, however there are signs their form may have dipped recently, dropping points in 2 of their last 3 league games. Also they lost to St Etienne in their last Europa League game in quite a convincing fashion despite the scoreline only being 1-0. With FK Qabala struggling in the Europa League, St Etienne should have enough quality to come away with at least a point tonight.
Our second selection (Nice) really need the win today, currently in 3rd place with 3 points, so it's not been the best of starts to their Europa League campaign. Domestically they are doing extremely well, topping the France Ligue 1, with 9 wins and 2 draws from 11 games, scoring more than 2 goals per game and conceding less than a goal per game. Their opponents tonight (Salzburg) aren't doing as well as hoped domestically, and they are rock bottom of their Europa League Group I having lost each game so far, so may try and focus more on improving their domestic league position now. They lost their last Europa League game 1-0 to Nice despite having home advantage, so with them being the away team this time round, it will be a big struggle to beat a Nice team in such good form. With Nice needing the win today, and their domestic form being so strong, they should stand a good chance of winning.
