Our first selection (Gabala) are currently topping the Azerbaijan Premier League and are doing it in style. In their 8 games played so far, they have won 6 and drawn 2, scoring 20 goals and conceding just 1 in the process, which is a phenomenal defensive record. They have already beaten todays opponents (SumQayit) when having home advantage, and as they average over 3 goals per game away from home, they are more than capable of repeating that win away from home today. This league seems to break into 3 categories, a top 3 who are clearly better than the rest, a middle 2 who can cause the odd surprise, and a bottom 3 who will usually always lose to a top 3 side, and SumQayit happen to fit into the bottom 3 category. So far any points SumQayit have obtained have been against mid table or bottom of the table teams, and they have lost every time to a top 3 team. On paper this pattern should continue today, and Gabala should have too much quality and secure another win.
Our second selection (Arsenal) are playing Championship side Reading in the EFL Cup tonight. The EFL Cup is notorious for surprise results due to the bigger teams rotating their starting lineups as they often don't feel this Cup is of major importance, which is why this double is just a suggestion today. Arsenal will most definitely rest a few key players tonight, however they have extremely talented youngsters and fringe players who will have good motivation to impress in order to try and break into the starting IX on a regular basis. Arsenal are performing very well and confidence in the squad will be very high as they are unbeaten in their last 12 games in all competitions, and they will want to continue that form today. Their opponents tonight (Reading) are a bit hit and miss away from home, winning 3 and losing 3 in the league, sometimes managing a clean sheet and sometimes losing by a large margin. This makes them a little unpredictable, however Arsenal should have enough quality to cope with whichever Reading performance turns up tonight.
