Our first selection (Braga) are the 4th place experts of the last two seasons, finishing behind the big three of Benfica, Sporting, and Porto, and surprise surprise they are currently sitting in 4th place this season also, behind the same three teams as usual. Braga are very strong at home, they may not be one of the highest scoring teams in the league but they are certainly one of the strongest defensively, conceding just 7 goals in 7 games so far this season, with just 2 conceded when playing at home. Their opponents today (Chaves) are newly promoted but are adjusting very well to life in the top division. Their fixtures have been a little kind however, with all opponents other than Benfica not being in the top 10 league positions, and they lost convincingly to Benfica. Braga at home will be a much bigger test for Chaves than most of their opponents so far this season, and Chaves are without key players Fabio Martins and Rodrigo Battaglia, as they are on loan from today's opponents Braga, therefore i think Braga should have enough quality to win this game.
Our second selection (Zenit St Petersburg) are currently occupying 2nd position in the Russia Premier League and have a chance to go level on points at the top of the league if they win their game in hand today. They are yet to lose any of their 10 league games so far this season and have scored more goals than all other teams in the league by at least 6 goals, and their strong attack hasn't come at the expense of defence, as they still concede less than a goal per game. Their opponents today (Orenburg) are newly promoted and struggling with life in the top flight so far. They have managed just 1 win from 10 attempts, and scored only 6 goals in the process. Defensively they have been pretty good, conceding only 10 goals in 10 games, however today they will be away from home and up against the best attack in the league, which is why i believe Zenit will just have too much quality today.
