Our first selection (+1 Liverpool) are the kind of team who seem to play their best football when up against top quality opposition, and then drop points against teams they really should be beating (Burnley immediately springs to mind). This is a very difficult game to predict as both teams are fairly evenly matched, however Chelsea do have the home advantage which should give them the edge. Games like this though are often tight, can often result in a draw, and often have no more than 1 goal separating the two teams (4 draws in their last 6 meetings in all competitions). On top of that, Chelsea's manager being Italian will likely give Chelsea that Italian mentality of defending a lead comes first, rather than looking for a second goal. Therefore i feel this selection should be safe because even if Chelsea take the lead, the next goal (if there is one), would be more likely to come from the team going all out to score, which we know will be Liverpool.
Our second selection (-1 Volendam) have had a good start to their season, currently sitting in 3rd position, winning 4 of their 6 games, scoring 11 goals and conceding only 4 in the process. Where as their opponents today (Utrecht Reserves) sit 17th, winning just 1 of their 6 games, scoring 7 goals and conceding a rather large 13 in the process. Volendam are one of the favourites for promotion this season after missing out in the promotion quarter finals last season, and it's games like this that they will be looking to make sure of collecting 3 points, especially with home advantage as Utrecht Reserves are mainly struggling away from home. Utrecht Reserves away struggles have lead to 3 straight losses, all by more than 1 goal (2-0, 3-1, and 4-1), which should give the -1 asian handicap a great chance.
