Our first selection (Dundee Utd) play their league football in the Scotland Championship, which is the league above where their opponents (Peterhead) play in League 1, and last season Dundee Utd were relegated from the Premiership so they really do have some pedigree. Dundee are very much a home side at the moment, with some good results, and scoring all 6 of their league goals so far whilst playing at home, so it's fortunate they are the home side today. Their opponents (Peterhead) are struggling so far in League 1 this season, sitting in last place with 1 point from 4 games, scoring just 2 goals but conceding a hefty 10, and they are yet to score away from home in the league. Barring upsets, everything points to a home win for Dundee Utd today.
Our second selection (Falkirk) also play their league football in the Scotland Championship, which for this tie is two leagues above where their opponents (Elgin City) play in League 2. Falkirk are one of the stronger Championship sides, narrowly missing out on promotion last season. They have had some tough games so far this season but they should climb from their mid-table position over the course of the season. Elgin City also just missed out on promotion last season and are currently mid table, however they have only beaten Edinburgh City and Cowdenbeath so far, which doesn't really tell us too much about their quality this season. With a 2 division gap and home advantage for Falkirk, this should on paper be a Falkirk win.
