Our first selection (St Patricks) are on a very good run of form, unbeaten in their last 6 games in all competitions, winning 5 and drawing 1, and keeping 4 clean sheets in the process. It has been a very up and down season for St Patricks, who are more used to comfortably sitting in the top 4 positions, and this season they find themselves in 6th although maybe they have turned the corner now. Today they are up against Bohemians, who have also had some decent form in their last 3 league games, although they were beaten 2-0 by Derry in the Cup last time out. Bohemians do struggle for goals away from home though, scoring only 5 from 11 away league games this season, and they have lost the last 5 times they have visited St Patricks. If this game goes according to form, St Patricks should be able to come away with at least a point from this match.
Our second selection (Getafe) were relegated from the top division in Spain last season, and that was largely down to their terrible away form where they lost 14 of their 19 away games, conceding a massive 47 goals (more than any other team) in the process. At home however they were pretty decent, only losing 6 of their 19 games, and conceding a very respectable 20 goals in the process. Their opponents today (Numancia) finished just above mid-table in the Spanish 2nd Div last season, and as with most teams they were far weaker away from home, only managing 4 wins from 21 away games. It's difficult to read too much into the league so far, but Getafe have managed an away draw, whilst Numancia have managed a home loss, so maybe the morale going into this game may be slightly higher with Getafe considering their away form last season. I think home advantage will be key tonight, and should give Getafe a good chance of gaining some points from this game.
