The EFL Cup is notoriously unpredictable in terms of picking outcomes, even when it looks nailed on for a team to win, however they can often contain a fair few goals as the rotated players that come in to the team go out there with a point to prove in order to stake a claim for a regular starting place in the first XI.
Our first selection (Burton v Liverpool) should have plenty of goals judging from their early season games, with Liverpool's first two games containing 9 goals, and Burton's first four containing 18. Also, Liverpool are the kind of team who like to get out of the blocks quickly, whether it's scoring or conceding, with 2 goals scored in the first half of both of their league matches this season. Therefore, after their disappointment at the hands of Burnley, they will be looking to restore some pride in this game against weaker opposition, and that will probably be in the form of an early goal or two.
Our second selection (Everton v Yeovil) should also contain goals, more so because of the gulf in quality and Everton having home advantage. Yeovil play 3 divisions below Everton, and therefore on paper should really struggle against the Premier League team, and on top of that, their new signings Williams and Bolasie are expected to play, along with a return to the starting line up for Lukaku, so there should be plenty of quality in the Everton starting line up tonight. This should be a convincing win for Everton, and therefore there should be at least 1 first half goal.
