Our first selection (Halmstad) sit in 2nd place in the Sweden Superetten, 5 points behind leaders Sirius but with a game in hand, so will look to use this game to try and close the gap. Halmstad have been very impressive at home this season, winning 7 of their 9 home games, and losing just 1. They have also been extremely strong defensively at home, conceding just 3 goals in their 9 home games, and they have already beaten today's opponents (Varbergs BoIS FC) away from home 1-0 this season. Varbergs have a decent away record this year, with 3 wins from 9 away games, however their 3 away wins all came against teams in the bottom 4 positions in the league. With this selection having the draw covered, it should be very safe given the home advantage and the superior quality.
Our second selection (Galatasaray) are one of the biggest clubs in Turkey. By their standards, last season was very poor, finishing in 6th position, and outside the European places. They were still strong at home last season, only losing 2 of 17 home games all season, scoring 40 goals and conceding only 18 in the process, however they should have recorded more wins. This is the first game of the new season, so not much form to go off, however they did beat League winners Besiktas in the Super Cup final last time out. Their opponents today (Karabukspor) are newly promoted after finishing in 2nd in the Turkey 1 Lig, so will have a tough ask to get something from today's game. Their away form last season wasn't anything special, winning only 7 of their 17 away league games, so they will most likely look to try and frustrate Galatasaray today, but Galatasaray should have the quality to win at least one of the halves today.
