Our first selection (Real Madrid) are the current Champions League winners and will be taking on current Europa League winners (Sevilla). Real Madrid will have a few missing players today, which is why the draw is covered in this selection, however they have so much depth of quality that even a slightly weakened side will be a big test for any club. They are also a team who knows how to perform when it matters, so with silverware at stake, it's unlikely they will have a bad game. They didn't have the best of starts to their pre-season campaign with a loss to PSG, however wins against Chelsea and Bayern followed so they should have a good chance today. Sevilla have had a good pre-season campaign with 6 straight wins, however none of their opponents were close to the quality of Real Madrid, so i wouldn't read into that too much. Recent history suggests Sevilla only win this fixture if they have home advantage, so as this will be played at a neutral venue, Real Madrid should have a good chance of coming away with the trophy.
Our second selection (Rotherham) play in the English Championship, two divisions ahead of their opponents today (Morecambe) who play in League 2, so there should be a significant gap in quality between the two sides. On top of that, Morecambe were only 2 places from being relegated from League 2 last season, so they are certainly not one of the stronger League 2 sides, and they started the current season with a 2-0 loss to a newly promoted side at the weekend. Rotherham aren't one of the strongest sides in their division either, however they are two divisions higher and finished last season very well. So with home advantage today, Rotherham should be capable of securing at least a draw from this encounter.
