These selections can be found in the Germany and Netherlands Leagues.
Our first selection (Stuttgart) were relegated from the top German division last season so are used to a higher quality of opposition, and up until their last 4 home games where they played 4 teams in the top 6 positions, they actually had a decent home record of 6 wins, 1 draw, and 6 losses. Obviously several first team players have now left, however they have re-invested wisely, signing last season’s top-scorer from Bochum (Simon Terodde, who scored 25 goals) so they should have one of the better quality squads in the league this season. Their opponents St Pauli, missed out on the promotion places by 1 spot last season, however it was still by quite a margin, 12 points. St Pauli have lost most of their pre-season games, admittedly against decent sides, however the losses could harm their confidence, where as Stuttgart are flying high, convincingly winning their last 6 pre-season games. With home advantage and good form coming into this match, i see Stuttgart getting at least a draw from this game.
Our second selection (Jong Ajax) were extremely strong when playing at home last season, losing only 2 of their 18 home games, as well as recording a 2-0 home win over today's opponents FC Emmen. Although FC Emmen finished last season 2 places above Jong Ajax, it was only by 1 point, and they did finish the season poorly, losing their last 5 games (including their playoff match). What is concerning for FC Emmen is that their poor form seems to have continued into pre-season, losing all 4 of their pre-season games, conceding a rather large 15 goals in the process. So FC Emmen haven't won, or even drawn a match since the 11th April, therefore they must be low on confidence. It's difficult to predict how good Ajax Jong will be at this stage, but they always have talent and normally play well at home, so i think they can get at least a draw against an out of sorts FC Emmen.
