Our first selection (-1 Shamrock Rovers) is the reason this double isn't an official "Tipster's Double", it was very close to being, however in just 3 days time they have an important League Cup Semi Final match against St Patricks which potentially could serve as a distraction. If it wasn't that, this match should be an easy home win on paper. Shamrock are one of the stronger teams in the Ireland Premier Division, who are very strong defensively at home, conceding only 6 goals in 9 home league games, and they have a very impressive head2head record against today's opponents Longford. Longford are having a terrible season, winning just 1 game from their 21 games played so far, and conceding a massive 47 goals. They have however drawn their last 2 games and put up a good fight away to Dundalk recently, so anything is possible, but it really should be a Shamrock win tonight.
Our second selection (Reims) are one of the main candidates for promotion this season. Relegated from Ligue 1 last season they are used to a higher quality of opponent, and despite being relegated, they still had a decent home record. They drew their first match of this new season, however they had to play more than 80 minutes of the game with only 10 men, so to draw an away match with only 10 men for virtually the whole game shows they have some quality. Their opponents today (Bourg Peronnas) were a mid-table side last season but had a terrible away record of 3 wins, 5 draws, and 11 losses, scoring only 15 goals yet conceding 36 in the process. So for them to get even a draw today away to Reims will be seen as a good result. This should be a winnable game for Reims today but have covered the draw as it's early in the season and we still know little about current form.
