Our first selection (0.0 Monaco) should be largely influence by home advantage today. In the 1st leg away to Fenerbahce, Monaco suffered a 2-1 defeat, however Fenerbahce are very much a strong performing team when playing at home. In fact, Fenerbahce are so good at home, they have only suffered 1 home league defeat in the last 3 seasons, so for Monaco to only suffer a narrow and fairly evenly matched defeat indicates fortunes my well differ in the 2nd leg at Monaco. On top of that, Fenerbahce actually are pretty poor on the road, winning just 8 of their 17 away league games last season.
Monaco are also stronger when playing at home although not having such an extreme difference as Fenerbahce but they do appear to be far better defensively with home advantage. So with the incentive of needing to win in order to progress, and Fenerbahce probably setting out to defend a lead in this match, this selection should be pretty safe, especially with the draw being covered.
Our second selection (Barcelona) need no introduction, we all know they are one of the best teams in the world today, and when playing at the Nou Camp they are one of the most dominant teams in the modern game. This is however a friendly competition, which will always bring an element of uncertainty, however they will surely be out to put on a strong performance in from of their home fans. Their opponents today (Leicester) pulled off one of the biggest shocks in history last season by winning the English Premier League, so now they are going up against some of the biggest clubs in the game. They have already lost 4-0 to PSG in this competition and Barcelona shouldn't be an easier proposition, which is why i expect Barcelona to secure a fairly comfortable win today even though it would be great to see Leicester test the Spanish giants.
