Our first selection (O Ljubljana) are last seasons Slovenia League winners by 6 points. They were extremely strong defensively, conceding just 25 goals in 36 games, but also very threatening in attack with 75 goals scored. So far this season they have won both of their games without conceding a goal, so on first impressions it looks like they appear to be the same strong team as last year. Their opponents today (NK Krsko) are a mid-table team who have drawn their first two games of this season, and although O Ljubljana generally have a very good head2head record against NK Krsko, they did surprisingly lose both of last season's encounters. However they were both unexpected outcomes, but it does serve as a little reminder of caution that upsets can happen more often in these lower quality leagues, so although O Ljubljana should win, this is not a match i would have gone for if there were more choices available today.
Our second selection (Kalmar FF) is also not an ideal choice, they have generally been difficult to beat this season, although they have struggled to win games, and were disappointing against bottom club Gefle recently. They have beaten today's opponents (Djurgarden) away from home 3-0 this season, which gives them the psychological advantage going into this match, but they are still not a team that fills me with confidence. Home advantage should definitely help today against a team who is really struggling away from home, losing 6 of their 8 away games, scoring only 6 goals yet conceding 13 in the process, and Kalmar are 4 games unbeaten when playing at home against some decent sides. Kalmar will be hoping for the win today, but even if that doesn't happen, the draw is covered and they should be able to get at least a draw.
