Our first selection (Rosenborg) have been in dominant form when playing at home recently, winning their last 12 home games in all competitions, scoring 38 goals yet conceding only 8 in the process. They are currently topping their domestic league by 6 points which should give them enough cushion to be fully focused on this game tonight, and once again their league position is mainly down to their 100% home record in the league this season, winning all 9 of their home games, and scoring more than 3 goals per home league game on average. Being mid-way through the season they are playing with sharpness also, something today's opponents (APOEL) could be lacking as their domestic season is yet to start. APOEL are a dangerous side and deserving domestic champions last season, scoring many more goals than the rest of the teams in their league. They were however unable to beat TNS last time out away from home in the Champions League Qualifiers, and Rosenborg would definitely be considered stronger than TNS, which gives Rosenborg a good chance of getting at least a draw today.
Our second selection (Hamilton) play in the Scotland Premiership and today play Edinburgh City who have only just gained league status, so this is a bit of a David v Goliath match-up. After disappointingly losing their first League Cup group match to Ayr, Hamilton stepped things up with an impressive 3-0 win against St Mirren, however as they still sit behind Ayr and St Mirren in this group phase, this game tonight becomes a must win match. Edinburgh City have lost both their group matches so far, without managing to score. Obviously this is a tough as for them to be beating sides with more quality having only just acquired league status, and to come up against Premiership opposition tonight will be equally difficult despite having home advantage. With this being a must win match for Hamilton, they should hopefully avoid complacency and secure a comfortable win tonight, most likely by a 2 or more goal cushion.
