Our first selection (Midtjylland) have had a very strong pre-season, winning each of their 7 games, scoring 14 goals and conceding just 1 goal in the process. They finished last season in 3rd, just 3 points behind Sonderjyske in 2nd, but some way behind runaway leaders FC Copenhagen. The main reason they didn't finish 2nd is because of their mediocre away form, however when playing at home they are very strong in attack and defence. In the last 2.5 years Midtjylland have played Randers 9 times in all competitions, and Midtjylland have won on every single occasion. Based on last season, today's opponents (Randers) are a mid-table side, however they have lost some of their quality players during the pre-season break, they have a new manager, and have some issues with last season's play of the season. This is probably not the smoothest preparation a team can have for a new season, which is why and in-form Midtjylland playing at home should be a safe selection, especially with the draw covered.
Our second selection (Kalmar) are playing better than their league position would suggest, they are unbeaten in their last 7 games in all competitions, and were impressive against AIK Stockholm last time out. Despite currently sitting in 11th position, they actually only have 1 more defeat than leaders Malmo so far this season, this is largely because they seem to have a habit of drawing quite a few games, showing they are difficult to beat even if they are not getting as many wins as they may deserve. Their opponents today (Gefle) are really struggling. From their 13 league games so far, they have 1 win, 2 draws, and 10 defeats, scoring only 9 goals yet conceding a whopping 31, giving them just 5 points. The problem is these games are not even looking hard fought or close, they are deserving to lose the majority of them. Unless we are really unlucky and today is the beginning of a revival, this should be another poor display which will give Kalmar a great opportunity to extend their unbeaten run.
