Our first selection (Austria) surprisingly had one of the best qualifying campaigns of any team in the competition, recording 9 wins, 1 draw, and 0 losses on their way to a 1st place finish in Group G. They have some talented players in the likes of Alaba, and Arnautovic, and a real goal threat in Janko, and defensively they are strong, conceding only 5 goals during qualification. Their opponents today (Hungary) only qualified via a play-off game against Norway after finishing 3rd in one of the weaker qualification groups. They are lacking in quality and goal threat, only scoring 11 goals in their 10 qualification games, and only managed wins against Finland and the Faroe Islands. Austria should have enough quality to get something out of this game today.
Our second selection (Portugal) finished top of their qualification group in a rather conservative manner considering they have possibly the best player in the world (Ronaldo), i would have expected more than 11 goals scored in their 8 games. However, they did secure 7 wins and only 1 shock loss to Albania so will definitely be a team the favourites will want to avoid. They should have way too much quality for today's opponents (Iceland) though, and they should only really be happy with 3 points today. Iceland did very well to qualify 2nd in their group, ahead of Turkey and the Netherlands, however they are one of the weaker teams in the competition, and it's very unlikely they will be able to hold off a Ronaldo motivated Portugal.
