Tuesday's Double Suggestion!

10th May 2016

Yesterday's 3rd consecutive win now makes it 8 double wins from the last 10 (including suggestions). The fixtures remain tricky today though, and because our first selection doesn't need to win (even though they should easily win) as they have already won their league, that lack of incentive means i will have to stick to posting this double as just a suggestion, so if you're in any doubts, just wait for the next official "Tipster's Double".

Double:
Basel v FC Thun - Asian handicap (-1 Basel)
Dundalk v Bray Wanderers - Asian handicap (-1 Dundalk)

At time of posting, odds of 1.94

These matches can be found in the Swiss and Ireland leagues.

Our first selection (Basel) have utterly dominated the Swiss Super League this year, but unfortunately it's that domination that provides the increased level of risk to this selection. Basel have a home record of 14 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss, scoring 43 goals and conceding only 13 in the process. They are playing a mid-table team (FC Thun) who have lost half of their away games, and lost 16 of their last 19 visits to Basel, so everything suggests it will be another simple win for basel, and probably by 2 or more goals. However this domination for Basel means the only incentive left this season is to keep the paying fans happy, if that's enough for the players to play well, then this will be an easy 3 points, however if it's not enough incentive then the match may as well be a friendly, and we know friendlies can be unpredictable. This should be a win but a cautious approach would be recommended.

Our second selection (Dundalk) should be by far the safer selection of the two. It's early on in the season so plenty of incentive for every team to be trying to gain as many points as possible, so that means the outcome then comes down to quality, form, and luck, we can't do anything about luck but Dundalk definitely have the advantage in quality and form. Two time defending Champions Dundalk currently top the Ireland Premier League by 4 points, recording 9 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss, scoring 24 goals and conceding a very impressive 5 goals, and have won their last 5 league matches. Their opponents (Bray Wanderers) sit just above the relegation zone, with 8 losses from their 11 games, scoring just 7 goals but conceding 20. They have lost 4 of their last 5 league games, and have lost the last 5 times they visited Dundalk, with the last 3 being 4-0, 8-1, and 5-1 wins for Dundalk. With home advantage, this should be a very safe 3 points for Dundalk.
