Our first selection (Liverpool) have it all to play for in this 2nd leg of the Europa League Semi-final. They set up rather defensively in the first leg, and were cruelly punished late on in the match when Villarreal scored on the counter to win 1-0. I think we can safely assume Liverpool won't set up defensively tonight, and as we saw against Dortmund, Liverpool are a very dangerous team when they are chasing a win. I still however have a feeling Villarreal will qualify tonight, but the influence of mentality dictates that the team who only needs a draw or a loss by 1 with an away goal will probably not risk going for an all out win, therefore with the draw covered in this selection, it should be pretty safe.
Our second selection (Grimsby) are facing a promotion play-off battle for the 4th season running now. Having been unsuccessful in the previous three, they will either be utterly focused and determined, or a little apprehensive going into this match, and i'm thinking/hoping it will probably be the former. Grimsby have a fully fit squad for tonight's clash, so will definitely be looking to use their home advantage to gain a lead going into the 2nd leg away from home. They are strong at home, losing just 4 of their 23 home league matches this season, scoring 44 goals and conceding only 17, and they have a goal scorer in the form of Amond who has 30 goals this season. Their opponents (Braintree) are one of the in form teams of the latter part of the season, winning 4 and drawing 1 of their last 5 games, with one of those wins being against Grimsby. I believe Grimsby will be far more competitive this time round though, and should be capable of a draw if not the win.
