Our first selection (Djurgarden) have started the new season well, with an impressive 2-0 away win at Orebro. Last season Orebro were a mid-table team who only lost 4 games at home all season, so they are not an easy win by any means. Today Djurgarden have a home game against Falkenbergs, who lost their first game 2-0 at home to Gaoteborg. Last season Falkenbergs only just survived relegation, winning a 2-leg relegation playoff only via the away goals rule, and they look set to struggle again this season. They conceded more than any other team last season, and lost both their games against Djurgarden by a 2 goal margin. Djurgarden are a strong team and plenty capable of scoring goals. Their downfall last season was drawing too many home games, and i think they will have learned from that and will aim to be more ruthless this season. I expect this could be a high scoring game, with Djurgarden finishing comfortable winners.
Our second selection (Elfsborg) got off to a poor start away to a strong Hacken side, losing 2-1 but having more attempts on goal and more possession. They will be looking to make up for that poor start today with a win at home against Hammarby. Elfsborg are a top side in Sweden, and only suffered 1 surprise home defeat last season. They scored over 2 goals per home game on average last season, and should once again be very strong at home this season. Their opponents tonight (Hammarby) struggled for wins away from home last season, managing only 2 wins from 15 away league games. They drew their first match of this season, 1-1 at home to Ostersunds, who are newly promoted, so not the most impressive of starts for Hammarby. Both sides have made fairly poor starts to this season, however Elfsborg were away and playing much stronger opposition, i think with Elfsborg having home advantage today and a stronger team, this selection should be very safe, especially with the draw covered.
