Our first selection (Metz) had been going through a bit of a tough patch recently, which was putting their promotion hopes in doubt. Metz had failed to win in 5 games before their last 2 against AC Ajaccio and Paris FC, which were both wins for Metz. After those two wins though, their confidence should be on the up, and they will still be hoping to secure a promotion spot. Generally speaking they are pretty tough to beat when playing at home, losing just 4 home league games all season so far and conceding less than a goal per game in the process, although they have been leaking some goals of late so will be looking to get back on top of that. Their opponents tonight (Niort FC) the draw experts of the French Ligue 2, which is why i covered the draw in this selection. They have drawn over half of their league games this season, but although they may be stubborn opponents, they have only won 5 of their 31 league games this season, so will not be expected to beat Metz away from home tonight. On top of that, 3 of Niort's 5 away losses have come in their last 4 games, so potentially their stubborn resistance could be on the fade.
Our second selection (VVV Venlo) are looking to hold on to their 2nd place in the table to ensure an easier fixture in the promotion play-offs. They have some great form when playing at home, winning 9 of their last 10 home league games, scoring an impressive 29 goals in the process, and they put 4 past tonight opponents (Den Bosch) in this fixture last season. Den Bosch have really struggled for wins on the road this season, and that's due to a clear lack of goals, with just 9 being scored from their 15 away games this season. Defensively they are usually quite strong, although they did concede 9 goals in their last 2 games, so VVV Venlo could well be catching them at the right time. VVV Venlo have already beaten Den Bosch away from home 1-0 this season, so with home advantage this time, they should stand a very good chance of securing a home win tonight.
