Thursday's Double Suggestion!

3rd March 2016

It's the usual poor Thursday selection of fixtures, so as i've decided to go with a couple of Cup games which can be less predictable, I am posting this double as just a suggestion, so if you have any doubts, just wait for the next official "Tipster"s Double".

Double:
AEK Athens v Atromitos - Asian handicap (0.0, -0.5 AEK Athens)
Konyaspor v Besiktas - Asian handicap (0.0 Besiktas)

At time of posting, odds were 2.08

These matches can be found in the Greek Cup and the Turkey Cup.

Our first selection (AEK Athens) are currently 2nd in the league, 7 points clear of 3rd place. The leaders Olympiakos can't be caught, and with a strong cushion over 3rd place, AEK can focus their attention on the Turkey Cup, especially as it's now at the crucial semi-final stage. AEK Athens will be looking to use this home leg to take a strong lead into the 2nd leg away from home. There form at home has been up there with runaway leaders Olympiakos, and is the main reason for the very good league position. They've managed 11 wins and just 2 defeats at home in the league, scoring 26 goals and conceding only 6, and they have won their last 7 home games in all competitions. Compare that to today's opponents (Atromitos) away record, and you're looking at 2 wins, 4 draws, and 5 losses, scoring just 8 goals in the process. AEK have already beaten Atromitos at home this season, and the 1-0 scoreline didn't do their performance justice, they were dominant. With AEK being able to switch their focus to this Cup match, i think they will be very likely to take a lead into the 2nd leg.

Our second selection (Besiktas) go into this match 2-1 down from their first leg. Now i always believe mentality plays such a big factor in 2nd legs, and Besiktas are the team who have to win today, their opponents Konyaspor only need a draw to progress and therefore their mentality will be not to lose the match, rather than setting out to win the match. On top of that Besiktas are the team with greater quality, and they were winning the first leg and looking strong until they received a red card which changed the dynamics of the game. I expect the League will be the priority for both of these teams, therefore it's possible both teams may rest key players, which should nullify that factor. The key factors here for me are that Besiktas are the better side, and they need the win, so with Konyaspor only needing a draw, it's unlikely they will do any more and go for a win, therefore with the draw covered in this selection, it should be fairly safe for a Cup game.
