Our first selection (Basel) have to win this match within 90 minutes to stand any chance of progressing as they lost a fairly evenly matched 1st leg 3-2 away from home. This time they have home advantage, where have have been dominant in the Swiss League, winning 10 of their 11 home games, scoring 30 goals and conceding only 8. However, one of the biggest factors with ties like these is mentality, as soon as a team knows they need to win, they become more attacking and more dangerous, and when a team knows they only need a draw, like today's opponents (St Etienne), it gives them a negative mentality of just wanting to avoid defeat rather than try and win. This is the main reason i think a "Draw no bet" selection should be very safe here, because St Etienne don't need to win, so they most likely won't. On top of that, St Etienne's away record in the French League isn't particularly impressive, with just 5 wins from 14 away games, and a negative goals ratio. Basel may not win this, but i'd be very surprised if they lost, which is why this should be a safe selection.
Our second selection (Man Utd) also have to win this match within 90 minutes to stand any chance of progressing as they lost their 1st leg 2-1 away from home. However, unlike Basel above, Man Utd also need to avoid embarrassment, as their opponents (Midtjylland) are a team that Man Utd shouldn't really have any trouble beating when you consider the difference between the two clubs in terms of money and quality. Now Man Utd do have a lot of injury problems at the moment, however with the strength of their squad they should still have more than enough quality to win at Old Trafford against Danish side Midtjylland. Domestically Midtjylland have a fairly unimpressive away record of 3 wins, 3 draws, and 2 losses, scoring only 10 goals in the process, and they are surely going to try and "park the bus" and cling on tonight, maybe launching a few quick counter attacks, but i doubt they will commit too many players forward as long as they are still winning the tie. This means Man Utd will play their possession dominating game, trying to find a way though, and assuming they score at some point, you could find more will come as Midtjylland will then be forced to attack which will leave holes at the back.
