Our first selection (Hearts) are having a very strong season since their promotion back to the Scotland Premiership. They currently sit very securely in 3rd place in the league and have lost only one league game at home all season, against title contenders Aberdeen, not even Celtic managed to beat them last time out. They have scored in every one of their home games this season, so if a team is going to beat them, it's very likely they will have to score at least 2 goals to achieve it, and as todays opponents (Partick) score less than a goal per game on average away from home, it seems very unlikely they will have what it takes to beat Hearts today. Partick are not a bad team, but they do struggle to score goals, and Hearts have scored more than twice as many goals this season. These two teams have played each other twice already this season, with Hearts winning 3-0 and 4-0, and looking at the current form of both teams, there is nothing to suggest there will be an upset today. I expect another Hearts win, and with the draw covered, this should be a very safe selection.
Our second selection (Real Madrid) are a dominant force most of the time, but in particular when they have home advantage, and today they have home advantage. They have won 10 of their 12 home league games this season, scoring an incredible 45 goals and conceding only 10 in the process. Their home form is particularly good at the moment also with the appointment of Zidane as manager, winning his first 3 home games 5-0, 5-1, and 6-0. Today's opponents (Ath Bilbao) are a good side, but mainly when they themselves have home advantage. Away from home they are far more average, winning just 4 of their away league games this season, and scoring only 12 goals in the process. Historically Real Madrid have a dominant record at home to Ath Bilbao, having won the last 11 encounters. With the strong incentive of trying to stay in touch with Barca at the top of the table, the upcoming Champions League match shouldn't be too big a distraction, and i expect a comfortable win for Real Madrid.
