Our first selection (Dijon) are currently top of Ligue 2, and over the 25 league games played so far this season, they have the best attacking record of 43 goals, and the best defensive record of just 19 goals conceded. They are on an 11 game unbeaten run in the league, have only lost 1 game at home all season in all competitions, and they haven't lost to tonight opponents (Sochaux) since 2012. Simply put, they are a very strong side! Their opponents tonight (Sochaux) are struggling in the league. They sit comfortably in the relegation zone and have only 1 away league win all season, which isn't surprising seeing as they have only managed to score 7 goals in 12 away league games. Sochaux pulled off an upset at home to Monaco in the Cup earlier in the week which will have lifted spirits, however they have had less rest than Dijon, and the pressures of avoiding relegation are very different to a Cup game with nothing to lose. It would be a massive upset if anything other than a Dijon win or draw happened tonight.
Our second selection (AS Roma) have recently changed manager, and the return of Spalletti and his more attacking brand of football seems to be making a difference now. He didn't get off to the best of starts with a draw and a loss to Juventus, however they have won their next 3 games, and are showing signs that the team are starting to get used to Spalletti's tactical differences compared to their previous Manager Rudi Garcia. They have scored 7 goals in their last 3 games, which is not something that happens often for most Italian teams, and they have plenty of incentive to push for the win tonight as they are only 2 points off a Champions league position. Their opponents tonight (Carpi) are struggling to avoid relegation, 5 points adrift of safety, and scoring just 2 points from their last 4 games. They are coming off two straight defeats and with pressure mounting, expect them to play very defensively. Roma should be the driving force in this game, and they will be hoping to take all three points, which is why this selection should be safe with the draw covered.
