Our first selection (Man City) go into this match after a confidence boosting and very controversial win over Everton in the Capital One Cup. To have come back from the deficit they had will have given them a great deal of confidence that they can force the win when it really matters. Their away form hasn't been brilliant, and they did only manage a 0-0 draw with Villa last time out, however they were still by far the better team, and they should create enough chances to make some of them count today. Aston Villa have been much improved recently, however narrow wins against Wycombe and a hugely out of form Crystal Palace shouldn't be enough to make us think they are now capable of beating one of the best club teams in Europe. There will be some rotation today, probably from both teams, but Man City have huge squad depth and therefore should have the quality to win today.
Our second selection's (West Brom) home form has picked up a bit recently, with only 1 loss in their last 7 games, which was a real "bad day at the office" performance against Bournemouth. They look to be regaining that quality of being one of those sides that are difficult to beat, which couldn't be said at the start of the season. So being up against League One opposition (Peterborough) today at the Hawthorns, should be a game they would expect at least a draw from. Peterborough are a bit hit and miss away from home, they seem to go on patches of form, one minute they win all their away games, the next minute they are losing them all, fortunately they are in the middle of a losing patch (losing 3 of their last 4 away games), so Premiership opposition away from home will be a big challenge today.
